Have you heard about the person who has won both Padma Shri and Arjuna Awards at her young age? Yes, it’s none other than Mithali Raj the Role Model for Women in Sports.

Mithali Dorai Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. In July 2017, Mithali Raj surpassed the record of former England captain Charlotte Edwards.  She is the only female cricketer to reach the six- thousand runs in one-day international cricket and that’s why she is referred as the Tendulkar of Indian women’s cricket.

Mithali Raj is also a leg break bowler. She has scored 114 runs during her debut international match against Ireland.  In 2005& 2017, Mithali leads the Indian team to the finals of women’s cricket world cup.

Mithali Dorai Raj is an inspiration for women. She is a role model for those who think women may not have a bright future in sports. Women can bring pride for their country if they are confident about themselves.

Dear parents do not restrict your girl child to pursue their career in sports. Who knows, one day your girl child may break the records more than Mithali Raj.
