Why are most of Bollywood movies Garbage?
There’s a saying that, “Every country has the government it deserves“. Currently when I think of the Indian film industry, this quote instantly comes to my mind, we just have to replace some words, that’s it. Bollywood is the largest film industry in the world in terms of no of movies produced with approx 2000 films produced every year. It is estimated that the value of film industry in India is 138.2 bn INR.
Well all that big numbers are great but unfortunately if we talk about the number of quality films produced every year…..ALAS! most of the films consist of a cliche story line, a very good-looking Hero and a pretty Heroine. The Actors have to look good, that is a must! We have all out priorities sorted out. In the profession of acting, the ability to act is second priority.
But we cannot put the entire blame on movie makers. I have said it and I’ll say it again “Demand Creates Supplies”. This is what the Indian audience demands. It is these kind of movies that sell tickets. Most common folks don’t want to watch movies for the serious or compelling stories, they want to watch them as a mean to escape from their mundane lives.
We can always name some of the good movies that have been there to create a balance, but the question is, Is that alright? The wealthiest Indian Actor Shahrukh Khan (who in fact is even wealthier than most of Hollywood stars) has a worth of about $600 million. I can’t seem to recall any of his sensible movie after Chak de India and My Name Is Khan. Yes, He has made Money, but he failed to make a difference. If we talk about another biggie Mr Salman Khan, I can’t even remember when was the last sensible he made.
Why is this so important? Because Bollywood is like Lifeline of Indian people. It has drastic effect on our day to our lives. What the Bollywood actors do, becomes a trend. So, I think its time they start doing something worth mentioning.
